All-Star Game Ideas

Today has been an extremely busy day. I was busy fixing skates during the morning skate so I did not have time to post.

I have been thinking a lot about this league and some ways to gain more credibility amongst other leagues. I think one downfall is that we do not have an all-star game to showcase our best players. With only 6 teams like the previous years and seven teams this year, it would be hard because only a few players would not make it off of each team. I believe that we are one team short of doing two conferences, so we can't divide players that way. What if we did something like they did last year in the Central Hockey League. The game was in Colorado, home of the Colorado Eagles. The Eagles have been one of the best teams in that league for years. Paulo won a championship with them a few years back . Their entire team played a game against the top players from the league. What if next year, Fort Wayne hosted an all-star game and their team played the top players from around the league. It could even be played in Port Huron or Muskegon as they have had some good teams. I believe this could even generate more sponsorship money for the league. If done right, it could even generate more money for the city that is hosting it. Our league is so close that I think fans from other cities would show up to watch the game. We might even get a scout or two from the AHL or NHL to take a look at some of our players. Having been in the AHL, I know some of the players here could easily play in that league if given the chance. How about this for the starting lineup in an all-star game against Fort Wayne: RW Robin Bouchard, Center Todd Robinson, LW Craig Macdonald, D Daniel Tetrault, D Greg Labenski, G Sebastian Centomo. Tell me you wouldn't pay to see these guys play together.
This year the game is in Laredo, and they are having an all-star team made up of three of the teams in that area. I love it. I think it is a great thing for the sport. Who knows maybe an all-star game between us and the Central League could be a possibility. Although, I don't see this happening any time soon, but we as a league should have an all-star game. Heck, we should host the first one right here in Bloomington.
